What about 65 yr. olds! does going slower, but doing the exercise count?
Now I don’t feel so bad for being out of breath. I thought I just had inferior genes!
Thanks Dr. Axe. I’ve heard it described, but the demonstration was great!
awesome!!…
Great video. I’ve been working with burst training, but this video has informed me that I have areas in which I can improve. Can you suggest some less impact burst type activities that are more friendly on joints and lower back. Also, where is a good place for someone unfit to begin and succeed?
A spin bike is a great option for lower impact exercise. Anything that gets your heart rate up in intervals will be great.
Love, love, love it! I’ve been doing my own version of this type of training, incorporating some kick boxing and shadow boxing. Awesome workout! Thanks for posting this! It was quite fun to watch you!
I’ve been wanting shoes like that! There are different types better for different activities right? What type do you recommend?
Hi Merrida,
Vibram Five Fingers does make different styles. If you want to run or exercise in them, the KSO, Bikila, Treksport or Sprint varieties would be better. You can check out their website for all the different kinds: http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/indexNA.htm
I have a question – Is burst training another name for interval training? I go to a gym, and use the equipment – so the elliptical, and the treadmill, bike – etc., all work well with interval training. Short bursts of speed, then slowing it down; repeat. Twenty minutes of that, then twenty minutes on the weight machines. Does all that work as well as what you’re doing there?
Hello Dr Axe! I’ve heard a lot about you. Katy McCown is my personal trainer at the YMCA. She has nothing but good things to say about you and your program. Hopefully, I will be able to come to your next seminar. I am currently trying to lose 175 lbs. It’s been a struggle for me, but Katy keeps me POSITIVE! She has me doing 30 second burst on the elliptical. I am looking forward to meeting you soon!
WOW! That was great! I am going to try to do this burst training exercise. I know you made it look easy but it’s going to be hard work for me. Thanks, Dr. Axe!
Is this similar to Cross fit training?
This is AWESOME!!
