Avocados… Genius!
Is there a place on the website that lists the ingredients for these wonderful recipes (where we can print from it?).
at the top of the page under tools you can get the recipes
yum yum, gimme some!
I made this mousse last night – it’s delicious!! It is very chocolatey, but it does have a bit of a “different” flavor that tastes fruity, almost like a not-quite-ripe banana…which gave me the idea to eat the mousse with sliced banana. It’s really good, and I highly recommend it as a healthier way to satisfy the sweet tooth!
We tried this over the weekend with tremendous results. Loved it!! And the less suspecting had NO IDEA it was based on avocados and not dairy! Really great tasting!
Hey Dr Axe,
instead of water, what about Coconut Milk?
The fact that dates have so much SUGAR means this recipe really isn’t a good idea for most people (particularly metabolic syndrome/diabetes folks who are the vast majority of overweight people). The dates will spike insulin (and thus, fat storage)….so really, who cares if they have fiber and antioxidants. You can get those things from other REAL food sources WITHOUT SUGAR…
Did he say this was for people with diabetes or who were overweight? He said this was a healthier alternative to conventional desserts.
I’m sorry, but sugar isn’t good for ANYONE, diabetic or not.
I wonder if you could either substitute stevia or agave for the maple syrup which would lower the glycemic load?
I love chocolate thank you Dr. Josh.
Hugs your way for the recipe!!!!
Sounds wonderful. BTW have you figured out the COST of this mousse? Who can afford to eat a small bowl of mousse that costs $15? I may have to wait for avocados to go down in price to try this one. :)
I’m not sure how you came up with that price, but anyone making a recipe should plan well enough to frugally make recipes for which you have most of the ingredients already onhand.
If I were to make this recipe, the only thing I would need to buy to make it would be the avocados, as I already have on hand the (organic, real) maple syrup; the cacao, the vanilla extract, and the dates.
These are regular staples in my house that I use for most raw food dishes.
Yummmm! Just a comment. You should have used the soak water, and less maple syrup.
That’s true – and excellent sharing!
This looks so good. I always want to try your recipes and have not been disappointed with any of them! Thanks
I would like to have a recipe instead of the video. Sometimes we don’t have time to watch a video. i would like to be able to print the recipe for my files.
For those of you who simply CANNOT read through the posts WHICH ANSWER WHERE TO FIND THE RECIPE; and for those who simply cannot figure out to go to the ‘Recipe’ tab on the toolbars above, I will post the recipe:
Chocolate Mousse
in Desserts August 8, 2010 – by Dr. Axe ..

This mousse is rich and smooth. It is delicious alone or served as fondue with fresh strawberries, bananas or tangerines.

Love your recipes, however some like the mousse calls for a lot of syrup & sweet fruit like dates. Those of us with cancer & probably diabetes can not have sugar or sugar laden fruit. I know all about Stevia(ugh) but it would not work with these recipes as no volume or texture. Any suggestions for substitutes? Thanks.
