Souhds great! Question – new this year, in stores like Whole Foods – or in the Natural Foods section of Kroger is a new kind of coconut milk – it’s in the same area as Rice Milk and Soy Milk – it comes in a carton. It has a lot less fat. I’ve been using it a lot and the stores tell me it’s nearly impossible to keep it in stock. Dr. Axe – what do you think of that option?
I’m not sure I understand what is wrong with eating whole grains. Can you shed a little light on this subject. Thanks.
I’ll let Dr. Axe provide the science, but if I understand correctly, most cereals are highly processed, have added sugars, etc. They may contain whole grains, but have a lot of other stuff, too, plus the really good parts of the grain are processed out. That’s my laymans explanation. What kind of whole grain cereals do you like?
I was not referring to grains in cereals, but actual grains like steel cut oats, actual whole wheat that is ground from wheat berries, and other grains that are purchased from a whole foods stored and then ground up at home.
Hi Donna,
Michele is right on. Donna, the grains you are eating are a far better option, but if you are trying to lose weight or recover from a health condition, you still want to stay away from them. Here are 7 reasons Vegetables, Fruits and Beans are superior to Grains. Grains are:
1) inflammatory
2) higher in carbs
3) less vitamins and minerals
4) less anti-oxidants
5) less enzymes
6) less fiber
7) less electrolytes
Love this recipe Dr. Axe. I make my own sprouted, dehydrated, buckwheat cereal for when I’m cravin’ cereal. This will be a nice nutrient dense alternative! thanks for the info.
